Released for Cloudwater’s Friends & Family & Beer festival, this was the beer I was most looking forward to getting my hands on when I visited Manchester at the end of February but that wasn’t to be. Luckily for me though The Muted Horn came through with a supply of cans flown over from the brewery.
This is the second iteration of Chubbles and was brewed in Manchester with “100% English malt, a ton of flaked oats, fermented with a specific English yeast, and hopped intensely with Galaxy, Citra, and El Dorado”.
As Cloudawater says, “this year’s batch is a real juice bomb, ripe with flavours of mango, pineapple, papaya and freshly squeezed orange. It’s as dank as you’d expect too, with a smooth body reminiscent of tropical fruit juice.”
I cracked open my second can to celebrate Cihan’s birthday (he’s the owner of Biererei Store and Biererei Bar & Vintage Cellar). Coronavirus put paid to doing it in person together but we got to toast Cihan via a photo on Facebook.
I’m already looking forward to clinking glasses for real though at Biererei when this is all over. I’m sure it’s going to be one hell of a party.
Biererei and The Muted Horn are among a long list of independent businesses that are doing their very best to keep Berlin’s thirsty beer drinkers hydrated during this difficult time and both are now doing deliveries.
These and all the other great bars, breweries and bottle shops out there need your support right now so try to buy local if you can.
If you’re in Berlin and you’re not sure who is offering what, I’ve put together a map and list to help.
