This Sunday is St Patrick’s Day, a day where the Irish, those with tenuous Irish heritage and, let’s be honest, anyone who enjoys the craic, will most likely be having a drink or two in celebration. Bob Coggins of White Hag Brewery is no exception. As part of St Patrick’s Week with The White Hag, organised by Brausturm, Coggins will be in Berlin, where 5 of the city’s craft beer bars are hosting tap takeovers.
Events are planned for Saturday evening at HOME Bar, KASCHK, Hopfenreich and The Castle’s Nordbahnhof and Friedrichshain locations. The drinking will most likely carry on well into Sunday.
Three of the five have published their tap lists for the events:
HOME Bar
Ninth Wave – New World Pale Ale
The Black Pig – Nitro Irish Dry Stout
Fleadh Ale – Red IPA
Púca Dry Hopped Lemon Sour + Lime, Mint and Matcha
Warrior Queen – Irish Red Ale
KASCHK
The Black Pig – 4.2% Nitro Irish Stout
Little Fawn – 4.2% Session IPA
Berry Púca – 3.5% Hibiscus Gerry Ginger
9th Wave – 5.4% New World Pale
Cauldron of Plenty – 5.2% Oatmeal Porter
Warrior Queen – 4.5% Irish Red Ale
Samhain – 6.2% Märzen Style Lager
The Púca – 3.6% Dry Hopped Lemon Kettle Sour
Hopfenreich
Black Pig – Irish Stout
Atlatean – NEIPA
Fleadh Ale – Red IPA
Samhain – Oktoberfest Lager
Fionn – DIPA
By my reckoning that’s at least 12 different beers from White Hag Brewery on offer in Berlin this weekend. Who knows, The Castle may have a few others. Each of the three listed has a couple of ‘exclusives’ so it may be worthy of a craft beer bar crawl if you’re that way inclined.
Whether you choose to celebrate St Paddy’s day with one or all of the ‘St Patrick’s Week with The White Hag’ events in Berlin or with a few pints of the black stuff elsewhere, Sláinte.
